This Pack and YOU

This website, your privacy and protecting our Cubs

We care about our children and that is why we are in Scouting or have put our boys in Scouting.   The sad thing is that not everyone in the world is like us.  The scary thing is that through the power of the Internet those sick individuals who would like to get a hold of our boys can find anyone - fast.

Uniform Requirements

Uniforms are an important part of being a Cub or Boy Scout.   Pack 424 fully supports the BSA's policy on uniforms.  Every piece of the uniform has a special meaning. Each part is to be worn in a certain way and at a certain time.   The inside front cover of the Wolf, Bear & Webelos handbooks all have excellent Uniform Guides.  An excellent Uniform Guide can be found at the Pack 215 site.

However, the leaders of 424 are also parents.  As such we know that money does not grow in trees as fast as these little guys grow out of or wear out a pair of pants.  So, 424 has adopted a "Belt Up" policy on Uniforms.  This means that each Cub must have a BSA official belt, uniform shirt, kerchief, slide and hat. We recommend everyone buys the generic cub scout hat, that way the hat can be reused from year to year.   Blue, green or khaki pants and shorts can be worn.  Sweat pants, running pants, sport uniform pants/shorts, swim gear or athletic shorts are NOT acceptable.  Sneakers and hiking boots are accepted as footwear, sandals, flip-flops, and cleats are not accepted.

Dues, Fees & Fundraising

It takes money to run a Pack.  It would be really nice if everything we need was donated, but it's not.  The Pack has to buy all of the awards that the boys earn.  We use Pack money as much as possible for trips and camping. Our leaders need training & training materials.  The list goes on and on.  That is why we have fund raising events and charge for Pack Dues.

Speaking of dues - Our dues for the 2007/08 Scouting year are $45.00 per new Tiger Cub and $35 for all others .  This buys the Cub insurance and a year of Boy's Life magazine. Also included in this cost are the kits for Rain Gutter Regatta, Pinewood Derby, and Space Derby.

Everyone is welcome at Pack 424, if you have questions about dues please contact the Cubmaster to discuss options.

This Pack and YOU

Pack 424 expects 100% parental participation.  The Cub Scout Program is a program for Families, not just boys. The Pack will work so much better if each parent would volunteer to do just one thing for the Pack or the Den that their Cub is in.  Maybe you can organize the activities needed to complete one achievement.   Maybe you can get a guest speaker for the Pack meeting.  Every single one of us knows how to do something unique or knows someone unique.  It takes so little time to help.  Think about what you do in the evening - please take one hour a week and do something for Scouting.

This Pack Needs YOU.
